One in Six Patients May Have Asymptomatic Eye DiseaseAs many as one in six patients who present for a routine eye exam without any symptoms of eye disease actually have eye disease, according to a study presented in Philadelphia at the American Academy of Optometry annual meeting. Researchers studied the results of eye exams of 24,570 patients conducted by 133 optometrists in Canada. Of patients with a newly diagnosed eye disease, 48.6 percent had no symptoms of disease. |
